Space-Time and Vectorial Meta-Optics for High-Power Structured Laser-Matter Interactions

In metaPOWER we’ll bring metamaterials into plasma science to open a world-changing direction in manipulating laser-plasma interactions.

Our major goals go all the way from new nanophotonic technology to advanced methods in structured light and applications in structured laser-plasma interactions. We will engineer a new class of high-damage metasurfaces to shape light, embed these into advanced space-time-vector beam shapers, and finally use these to understand and control laser-plasma instabilities, shape plasma accelerators, and engineer novel radiation sources.

Can you think of a world where we have limitless and sustainable energy thanks to laser-fusion?

And where access to particle accelerators is democratized by compact laser-plasma accelerators?

What new regimes can we open up by manipulating matter using intense structured light as our sculpting tool?
